La’Randa Jackson, an Ohio Walmart employee, said “I skip a lot of meals...if there’s enough, my mom and I eat.” This is a common struggle for many employees who work for Walmart, a company that reported $129 billion dollars in profits last year. The net worth of Walmart ($446.9 billion) and the incredibly low wages of Walmart employees is an example of just how severe income inequality has become in 2014.
