Detroit Bankruptcy Due To Canadian Bridge, Casinos, And Hollywood
Bush League, Corrupt Politicicians Cause Bailout
Confidential
emails indicate Michigan Govenor Rick Snyder's March 1st announcement
of a take over of the city of Detroit did not address the root causes of
the financial collapse of the Motor City. Emails between Detroit Jerome
Almon and several high Michigan and Canadian politicians, as well as
several prominent business entities indicate Detroit was corrupted and "bush leagued"
into bankruptcy. The emails indicate that Detroit lost out billions in
tax revenues and economic activity and one hundred to two
hundred thousand jobs due to the incompetence of state and city
politicians alone. This includes a $100 million, a $500 million, $1
billion, and $4 billion opportunities that either left Detroit or were
lost due to lack of world class politicians in the state of Michigan and
city of Detroit. The lack of world
class leaders is the major component in the collapse of Motown
according to evidence contained in the emails.
Numerous
emails indicate that Michigan politicians, including former Govenor
Jennifer Granholm's attempt to usurp the idea for the Michigan Film
Incentive Program resulted in the state being fleeced by Hollywood. The
program ended up costing tax payers hundreds of millions of dollars with
no visible benefit according to both current Governor Rick Snyder and
numerous media reports. The program was reduced to $25 million by
Govenor Snyder from hundreds of millions on the 42% per film rebate
under Granholm, which is now being phased out completely.
The
city of Detroit was also hard hit by its decision to build three
casinos in the 1990's. The casinos rake in nearly $1.5 billion annually,
with most of the revenues being shipped to Las Vegas and New York. The
casinos pay one of the lowest tax rates in the country, and have led to
the flight of the middle class. Additionally, the casinos led to the
flight of a large percentage of the middle class and businesses due to
the severe uptick in crime that came with casinos. This in turn led to
drastic cuts in police, fire, and other city services. Behind the scenes
emails indicate the process and deal cut by the city and state was rife
with irregularities.
The
Center For Public Integrity rates Michigan an F when it comes to
corruption, tantamount to the state being a "theftocracy." Other serious
issues that led to Detroit's need for a federal tax payer bailout
include the facts that the city has paid over a quarter of a billion
dollars to settle police and corruption lawsuits, continues to elects
chronic Congress like city council, it is continually ripped off by
outsiders using the city's name, and the fact no plan was ever devised
to correct these issues. Most damaging was neglect of the auto industry
which eventually lead to its collapse and bailout.
The website,
Facebook, and Twitter page www.preactdontreact.com will address the bankruptcy at length.
