IN SEARCH OF FREEDOM
The Continuing Struggle of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui

“When I came here [to America], I was fleeing oppression. Now I am facing the same oppression. I came here to avoid prison, and I was put in prison. I came here to smell freedom; I found it to be suffocating.” - Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman

This coming Monday, September 23, 2013, will mark three years since the unjust and purely political sentencing of the Pakistani national, Dr. Aafia Siddiqui. This exceptional Muslim woman was given a sentence of 86 years for the alleged attempted murder of US personnel in Afghanistan in 2008 (after five years of secret imprisonment and torture) despite all of the evidence that pointed to her innocence!
A very important educational forum is scheduled for the Queens area of New York City on Monday evening to commemorate this travesty of justice, and to expand the base of support for this long suffering prisoner of war. Please review the information below and pass it on.

The following message was sent by the sister of Aafia, Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui, to a number of frontline supporters in different parts of the world. I think it is fitting to share this with those of you within our circle (you know who you are), who's continuing support of our humble efforts have helped to insure that our work could continue for Aafia, and other political prisoners/prisoners of war as well. - MS

Dear All,

September 23rd 2010, Aafia was sentenced to 86 years in the USA, after more than 7 years of horrifying detentions and an equally baffling trial. It is a bleak day in history where justice was marred with fear and prejudice.

It is also a day when shattered and shocked people like Me found a renewed faith in Humanity, Thanks to people like you.

As September 23rd comes near and I reflect back and miss my little sister more, I am amazed at how Blessed Aafia must be that because of her I got to know Great people like You. I wish God's Blessings be showered upon you All in abundance.
I pray for peace, Love, Justice and Freedom.

Thank You All
