The Central Park 5 Update: Demanding Compensation

Supporters of the five young men known as the CENTRAL PARK FIVE, at a New York's City Hall, called for monetary payment following 25 years of an unjust conviction in a case that rocked New York in 1989. The five, wrongly convicted in the brutal rape and attack on a white female jogger, were later found innocent after serving years for a crime neither man committed. New York's newly elected Mayor, Bill de Blasio, had promised during the 2013 campaign that such cases would be settled during his administration. Former and current elected officials who took part in the news conference called on the Mayor to stick to his promise.
