Hard Times: The High Costs of Child Care
In times of recession, child care is an expense on the chopping blocks of many governments. Marshelle Mills lost her job two years ago and had to make the hard choice of returning to the workforce or stay at home to take care of her three children. With an average of $8,150 per year, daycare costs for babies and toddlers in the United States range from $4,388 to $14,647 a year, according to data from the National Association of Child Care Resource & Referral Agencies.
