Locations: Nairobi, Kenya Result: Hope for two little girls This Friday, after months of hard-fought advocacy by the IJM team in Nairobi, Kenya, a rapist who violently assaulted a four-year-old girl was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison. But the battle for justice is difficult in Kenya. On Monday, the suspect in a different rape case was acquitted, despite strong evidence against him. Even though the acquittal is deeply disappointing, we are still grateful: A year ago, Mae* was so traumatized after the violent sexual assault that she couldn’t talk, gesture or even eat on her own. Now, because of the extensive therapy, care and comfort you enable us to provide, Mae is an active and strong child with a great future ahead of her.
