Past the second of the clock when you were mine Try as I might, my best efforts all in vain Guess nothing left but to board the outbound train As I ride, through the valleys and the towns On my face the worn out expression of my frown Up in the sky shooting stars pass me by Just one more wish, but do I really want to try I'm at the crossroads, the whistle blows as I go This shaky ride, upon a train through winter snow Falls from the sky, the rain of wash me clean I close my eyes, dear God please don't let me dream A shattered glass, an angry wounded heart Consequence of deceit From a lover's lying heart I ride this train, to a place I don't yet know Still I'm aboard, I know I have to go Reaching the crossroads, not the journey on the tracks In my own life, knowing there's just no going back I settle in, pull up my coat around my face So no one See's the lines of tears there telling trace Train keep on moving another town another state I'm heading nowhere, to an unknown twist of fate Till morning rises, new day a brand new start Road of recovery for a broken battered heart One thing I'm certain There's a station on this track My destination And it's called no looking back |
