GOODBYE NORMA JEAN

Beneath the shades of damaged grey
Where breath and wanting slip away
Unto the hand that offers sleep
The beckoning to sweet relief
The fragile step into the dark
The letting go whilst hope departs
Before the time and moment come
Escapes the scared and lonely one
Insecurities tormenting her
The drink runs free on precious fur
Jewels and dollars now her demise
Society's girl destroyed, despised
A suicide of empty eyes
Recklessness of hateful lies
Into black the end insight
Motionless, extinguished light
Like a candle in the wind by night
The flame fighting to retain it's light
Submitting to the breeze so tender
As the smoke ascends, the flame's remembered
