Life Go's On

What's it like be stalked? It's like living in darkness and someone else, a stranger has the light, they know where you go, what you do, and eventually they press the pause button, you find the strong creative woman becomes timid, frightened and alone.
Once I was active in the community, building a network of friends and associates, making a difference in not only my life but more importantly to others.
It was through my Advocacy on a social networking site that my path crossed with Mary, we became allies with common goals and dreams, united in our desire to better the lives of people in dire need of assistance, over the months to come her friendship became more intense.
She would force herself into my life, further than I would of liked, dominating my time, constant emails and calls, in the end I had to withdraw from her.
This resulted in a barrage of abuse, threats and intimidation, I became cautious to open emails, to post anything on my page, the moment my presence was shown online the abuse followed.
The effects on my self esteem and confidence began to overflow into my private life and working life, my paranoia grew, insecurities destroyed my personality, until I could no longer feel safe using my own name, alias's became my safety net, with images of strangers as a profile picture.
If my identity was discovered by Mary she would make false claims to close down my sites, harrass my blog pages, attempting to destroy my credability in the process.
This stalking has not ceased, I just became adept at concealing my activity, I introduced characteristics to my behaviour once alien but now second nature, vetting new friends, searching for information to assure myself this new contact was genuine, life will never return to normal for me, the effects will permanently embedded in my mind, will I ever escape Mary? I don't know, but the fight to regain myself is ongoing, Stalking is a serious crime, even with police complaints and filing of police reports little happens to end this nightmare, but I will regain my life, who I was and who I should be with or without Mary in the shadows watching and waiting.

  4. Keep doing your thing, the person must of been so jealous of you, or tried to even be like you, never give up what you are doing, stalkers are scary, people can take so much until it effects your own life, your work, family etc stalkers have a deep rooted problem, more than likely within their own life, or issues that they have not dealt with. :)

  5. ,
We come here today with a common goal, to raise awareness on the growing crime wave of Stalking and Cyber bullying.
Victims of stalking must reach out to the system for help in stopping the abuse perpetrated upon them. I would like to quote
The Bureau of Justice Statistics, they issued a special report on stalking. The report estimated that over 3.4 million people age 18 years and older were victims of stalking. Stalking is defined as a course of conduct directed at a specific person that would cause a reasonable person to feel fear. Stalking behaviors that do not elicit fear in the victim are termed harassment. Women were at greater risk than men for stalking, but women and women were equally likely to be harassed. Examples of stalking and harassing behaviors include: unwanted phone calls and messages, unwanted letters and emails, spreading rumors, following or spying, showing up at places, waiting for victim, and leaving unwanted presents. Persons ages 18-24 experienced the highest rates of stalking with young women being three times more likely to be stalked than men. Nearly 3 in 4 of all victims knew their offender in some capacity, most often a former intimate, friend, roommate or neighbor.
According to current statistics from the United States Labor Department, murder is the leading cause of death for women in the workplace, and one of the top causes of death for men.
Many of these deaths are the result of stalking. Studies have found that one in every six violent crimes in America occurs in the workplace, accounting for approximately 1 million crimes a year. But multiplying the danger of this problem is the fact that stalking victims on the job is a fairly new problem for United States businesses. Consequently, many managers and supervisors don't know how to respond to the danger, and may not afford the victim the understanding and protection they need. However, top executives are finally beginning to recognize the seriousness of the problem. Workplace violence was ranked as the number one concern of executives of America's Fortune 1000 companies.
We come together to address this ever increasing life threatening issue and bring to the table our commitment to fight back.
