'US violates int'l law with impunity'

An analyst says the reasons Guantanamo is still open is because it sends a message to the world that the US has hegemony and can violate any laws and get away with it. In the background of this most prisoners at Guantanamo Bay have been on a hunger strike for two months now with several in life threatening condition. At first the US denied the existence of hunger strikes at Guantanamo, then for a long time there was a concerted effort by Western corporate media to play down this story and abide by the US government agenda. Clashes have occurred just hours ago between prisoners and guards linked to hunger strikes at the infamous facility. Detainees have been transferred from communal to solitary confinement following the clashes. There are some 166 prisoners held at Guantanamo most according to analysts are completely innocent and all are being held indefinitely without charge.
