URGENT: OPPOSE DISTRICT ATTORNEY BILL! CALL ASSEMBLY MEMBERS NOW!
The Los Angeles District Attorney’s office is sponsoring a bill, AB
1276 (Bloom), which if enacted, would require juveniles convicted of
nonhomicide offenses to serve 25 years of their sentence prior to a
parole board review. It is supported by California District Attorneys
Association. After careful analysis and the input of experts, we believe
this bill would be harmful. Assembly Bill 1276 is deeply flawed, and
yet if there is not clear opposition to it, legislators could be left
with the impression that it addresses the problem of youth being
sentenced to adult prison sentences. Please call the committee members
now and let them know you oppose AB 1276!
Suggested statement: I am calling to oppose AB 1276, which will be
heard before the Public Safety Committee on April 30th. Please tell the
Assembly Member that I believe this bill is unfair and I urge a no
vote.
