Have Muslim women rights been echoed through the winds of time?

Many Westerners believe Muslim women, whether living in the first or third world are not as protected or respected as non-Muslim women.

These thoughts are reinstated with images and stories coming out of conservative Muslim nations showing women veiled from head to toe, shunned from the community and abused by their male counterparts.

Thus the issue of whether Muslim women hold rights has been echoed through the winds of time.

Although the religion of Islam has outlined divinely given rights for women, many of these rights are not regularly implemented and thus Muslim women have been prevented from reaching their full rights.

This week's Islam and Life asks: Can the modern day Muslim woman practice her divinely given rights?
