Tuam and Ireland's shame: unedited interview with Catherin Corless





There has been much coverage in recent weeks about the Mother & Babies home in Tuam. Local historian Catherine Corless discovered almost 800 childeren died in the home between 1925 en 1961, a staggering 35% of all the childeren who lived there. Her revelations have triggered a much needed debate about one of the darkest apsects of the history of the young Irish republic: the treatmet of unmarried mothers and their so-called 'illegitimate' childeren. In tyhis interview Corless explains step by step how she came to her conclusions.
