Domestic violence and human trafficking are different forms of victimization; however, between these types of violence against persons, there are similarities and points of intersections. As advocates who serve diverse populations, the changes that you are already working with human trafficking victims, are highly probable. To assist human trafficking victims, it is important to see and build on your existing knowledge and experience in working with survivors of abuse. Victims can be anyone (children, women and men of all nationalities, Socio-economic status, race, age, and faith). Abusers and traffickers often threaten victims into a life of silence and compliance. Intimate partner violence and human trafficking violate a person’s freedom.
