Stop and Frisk in River Park Towers
The fight to fix the NYPD's racist and unconstitutional "stop and frisk" policy wasn't just fought by lawyers in federal court, and elected officials at City Hall, and big organizations mobilizing millions. It was also fought by countless everyday New Yorkers, who worked together with their neighbors to push back against police bent on violating their rights. Here's a look at one Bronx housing development where the cops treated people like subhumans, and how the residents connected their struggle to the bigger picture and helped win a huge victory in the fight for racial justice. Picture the Homeless member Letitia Ledan is a natural born organizer and played a key role in transforming residents' rage into action.
