California inmates claim one of them died protesting inhuman conditions

An inmate being held in solitary confinement and who has been participating in a mass hunger strike died in the California State Prison, Corcoran on Monday. His supporters say the inmate, 32-year-old Bill "Guero" Sell, was taking part in the protest. Prison officials deny the statement and treat his death as a suicide. The prison didn't answer the RT calls. Sell was serving a life sentence for attempted murder and was also pending charges for the murder of a cell mate. The hunger strike has been lasting for 22 days by now with about a thousand inmates at 11 prisons still refusing to eat., initially there were 30,000 inmates that refused meals in the first days. Diana Zuñiga, Statewide Organizer, Californians United for a Responsible Budget joins us for the details.
