LOCAL LEGEND TURNS TRAGEDY INTO TRIUMPH
Bookcover and author, Jae S. Blacque
Albany, NY (BlackNews.com) -- After serving a 12 year sentence for drugs, 48-year old Jae S Blaque returns to his Albany, New York community changed by his own part in the plague drugs has wrought on his hood. His real to life stories are a morality play that goes against the grain of the "urban genre". With gripping story lines that shed light on the devastation drugs, sub-standard education, and polarizing politics play in impoverished urban areas, Jae S. Blaque is a refreshingly new voice to the urban literature genre.
Blaque comments, "Urban literature is the new hip hop and voice of change. Like hip hop, there are a lot of mixed messages that make it to print. With Dirty Palm Imprint Publishing, my aim is to be the conduit of high literary content. Everyone has a story to tell, but not all stories need be told if they offer nothing of value to the Black Experience. We have a responsibility to continue in the tradition of great leaders like Malcom X and Martin Luther King Jr., to resurrect their ideas and the pursuit of Justice and Equality."
His first literary work, Through The Darkness: Tyson’s Story, published on his own Dirty Palm Imprint Publishing company is a testament to his triumph over tragedy, and can be purchased at Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, or directly at www.lulu.com/spotlight/DirtyPalmImprint
