"FREE SHANE AND JOSH: An Urgent Plea for Compassion" (Full-length)

A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR/PRODUCER, JEFF KAUFMAN:
It has been a real privilege to work on this film for Josh, Shane, and Sarah. You'll see in FREE SHANE AND JOSH what remarkably accomplished, caring, and hard-working people they are. As Josh's brother Alex says, "These are really global citizens." It will also be clear that Shane, Josh, and Sarah are absolutely innocent of any wrongdoing. Their capture, and the continued imprisonment of Shane and Josh, is a terrible injustice that must end.

In their unique ways, each of their families demonstrates the admirable values exemplified by Shane, Josh and Sarah. Despite terrible pain and worry, they want something positive to come out of this ordeal. Sarah reflects this special spirit in the film when she says, "I used to sit in my cell and think about all the other innocent people that were inside cells and that were lost and forgotten. Even though this is something so wrong and senseless and cruel, we can come out of this better people, and we can use the rest of our lives to do something good and constructive and right in the world. And I know that Shane and Josh feel the same way."

Like the whole FREE THE HIKERS effort, this film came together thanks to a wide range of volunteer support from across the country, and the world. I want to express my appreciation to all involved.
