Dear Mr Cameron,

Whatever happens tomorrow, the battle for the UK is on and it won't be won by any self aggrandising knights in shining armour in parliament. This battle belongs to the people, by the people, for the people.

The Political 'class' have betrayed the people, it has become a bloated elite who have forgotten or deliberately abandoned the notion of serving the people. Whether it is Iraq, PFI, the banking system, privatising our NHS, public services, Welfare (yes, faring well - thriving), tax justice, legal aid and representation, mass surveillance, human rights, stifling the unions, social housing, a fair days work for a wage it is possible to live on, care of the vulnerable, child care, education, TTIP and ISDS, the battle is on.

What has become abundantly clear since Thatcher declared war on the unions, is that the people have steadily and systematically been betrayed. These last five years have been a neoliberal orgasm of betrayal and the next five years will decide the fate of this nation, a fate which must be decided by the people.

Whoever gets in that cannot be allowed to seal our fate for the next five years, there has to be accountability, politicians must answer to the people. Do you remember the trifling matter of promising constitutional reform and the power of recall in 2010? It was just one lie amongst so many; empty, treacherous, words that meant one thing, betrayal.

If politicians refuse to be accountable, there is only one option available, you must be forced into accountability. It is a curious thing, this country has been very kind to politicians, allowing you as much rope as you needed to hang yourselves. Your party, above all others, has set the agenda for the next five years and beyond and therefore the necessity of a new politics of public engagement and cooperation to demand accountability.

It's not going to be easy, divisiveness and selfishness are not easily overcome, especially when politicians and powerful media barons spread discord, hate and fear on a daily basis. This is a battle that must be undertaken precisely because it is hard as that is a measure of the betrayal we are up against. The people are power, Mr Cameron, and it is time that politicians felt the real weight of that power.
