Former Guantanamo detainee appeals to overturn conviction

 Known by the media as the 'Australian Taliban', David Hicks was captured by the U.S. in 2001 and became one of the first prisoners to set foot in Guantanamo's detention facility. After five and half years of detainment, and under extreme duress, Hicks took a plea deal over the charge of "providing material support for terrorism." However, six years after his release, Hicks maintains his innocence. And he has just launched an appeal against the United States to overturn, what he calls, a wrongful conviction.
