"I just had to prove to myself that I can go the distance," says an exhausted Bing Bing. "I feel like I've set a record. Raised the bar. Now that I know I can do it myself, I'm currently making plans to walk from Eliot Middle School in Altadena, Ca to Gardena High School in an attempt to unify Pasadena's music scene and bring it together in a real way," adds Mistah Wilson. Bing Bing attended Gardena High School in the 10th grade in 2005. The high school sits on the southeastern-most part of Gardena, Ca. "I use to get dropped off at Gardena High School in the morning, turn around and catch the first bus smashing to Pasadena. I was already expelled from Pasadena High School at this time," the young aspiring artist says as he discusses why DENA means so much to him as an individual. He went on to talk about how being involved in all three cities in Los Angeles with 'dena' (Gardena, Pasadena, Altadena) in the name has impacted his life growing up. And so he plans on going from Altadena through Pasadena and all the way to the bottom of Gardena. "I'm going to do it for all Pasadena/Altadena artists to see. This one is going to be for them. Because I don't appreciate not being taken seriously after the community services I have provided from the bottom of my heart. I am a leader. And I believe in leading by example."
Bing Bing grew up in group homes and foster homes around that general area in the early 2000's. He attended 135st Elementary School, West Athens Elementary School, & Henry Clay Middle School well before moving to Pasadena in September 2002.
Bing Bing claims it's been a long time coming with this simultaneous work ethic he's maintained. He knows that no independent Pasadena/Altadena artist of any genre is willing to foot this mission. Not even for themselves. And he's going to do it for the town in an effort to unify the local music scene. And we're sure he knows it's not going to be easy.
The reason he chose to go through Gardena to the bottom as oppose to the first borderline he touches is because not only does it justify his point & intention, but it's an even 27+ miles, just enough to say he's walked his own marathon. That's going to account for yet another milestone achievement on his everlasting journey to 'success'. "Ima do that for Mr. Smith, my 4th grade teacher at West Athens Elementary School who participated in the Los Angeles Marathon while I was his student. I gave that guy a hard time lol."
Bing feels like he has to do this for people to recognize his greatness. For people to see what he sees in himself. For people to believe in what he has created that was made for all to benefit from. "People tend to overlook what this young man is doing for the community," explains an anonymous supporter. "He hasn't been getting paid to do none of this. And because of Bing Bing, I now know what the 'pasadena music scene' looks like."
Go Bing Bing!!!
