held at Howard University. Political prisoner Mumia Abu-Jamal addressed
the conference from a Pennsylvania Prison. He was introduced by Baruch
College Professor Johanna Fernandez (Educators for Mumia) and Pam Africa

segment on Wednesday, May 8th. In addition, you will hear an interview
with Ralph Poynter, husband of Lynne Stewart, about the possibility of
an end to her incarceration. Stewart who is suffering stage four breast
cancer was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for defending her
client, the "blind sheik" convicted in the 1993 World Trade Center
bombing. Stewart's family was recently visited by federal probation
officers to determine if Lynne has an adequate place to stay and be
cared for in New York if she is allowed compassionate release.
