What is CORI?
Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) is a state-wide
record of our involvement with the court system. Anyone who has been charged with a crime that
is punishable by incarceration regardless of the outcome (even not guilty,
without findings, and dismissed charges are included) of those charges, has a
CORI file.
Why FIGHT?
- The CORI has been used to deny employment,
public housing, loans and even education.
Those with CORI often find themselves unemployed or caught up in a cycle
of scuffling to work a temporary job and with minimal hours and pay.
- Numerous Companies have refused to hire any
person with CORI and some may even fire employees who have dedicated themselves
for many years due to an old CORI.
